Detroit Tigers Prove Money Isn't Everything

The Detroit Tigers have won the America League Pennant. It's this kind of victory that can save the game of baseball that has been severly damaged in the past few decades by steroid-mad players and greedy owners that feel the championships should go to the highest bidder.

The NFL has become the undisputed king of sports by embracing competition. The league quite wisely introduced a salary-caps and profit sharing among the teams thus allowing the likes of a Green Bay and a Pittsburgh team to win Super Bowls instead of it just coming down to teams in the major markets. This keeps the game interesting, keeps the fans watching, keeps the money rolling into every football market.

Idiots like George Steinbrenner think the World Series should just go to whoever spends the most and their should be no limit to how much they can spend. So when the New York Yankees won 4 world series last decade it was the way things were supposed to be. You can hardly blame Steinbrenner for being mad they haven't won one since. He spent more money than anybody, they should, shouldn't they? Well, sometimes money can't buy you everything, and that's what makes life more exciting.
