NFL Quick Hits

The NFL has finally seen the light and appears ready to end the ridiculous practice of holding the Pro Bowl in Hawaii after the Super Bowl. In a sport that has become so engaging over the past few decades, the Pro Bowl served as the ultimate anti-climax to every season. Now, they're looking to hold it during the dead-week before the Super Bowl in the same location, thus in 2010, it will be held in Miami a week before the Super Bowl in Miami. I would hazard to guess that the pro-bowlers from the two Super Bowl teams will not be playing in this game.

Meanwhile, the housecleaning continues as Romeo Crennel, Rod Marinelli and Eric Mangini have been given their walking papers. Mangini is a bit of a surprise and would argue that Brett Favre's reckless gunslinging yesterday was the final nail in the coffin. Favre is one of the best to play the game, but he's outed himself as a prima-donna that can't be coached. Too bad.

Peter King has some accolades for Marinelli who is the first coach of an 0-16 team in NFL history. He blamed no one else. He told the team not to point fingers at anyone but themselves. It's theirs, they own it, man up. That's really all you can do.
