Denver Broncos Will Trade Cutler

Some NFL news in the month of March. The Denver Broncos have finally had enough of the drama and have decided to trade quarterback Jay Cutler. ProFootballTalk.com puts it in the proper perspective:

Indeed. The question that remains is what NFL team wants to have such a childish quarterback on their roster? If Dallas didn't already have a QB, I'm sure Jerry Jones would, but who does that leave? I guess quite a few teams.

Surprise! New York Times Spiked Story On Obama's ACORN Ties

A story from last October, mind you. Yet another revelation about media bias and the Democrats that will come to nothing.

Daniel Hannan Strikes Again

My record of heterosexuality is unblemished, but I must confess...I am in love with this man.

Obama Forces Out GM CEO

From Politico:
The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.
Wagoner's departure is one of the remarkable strings attached to a new aid package the administration plans to offer GM.
The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government's behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.

On Monday, President Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler.

Two minutes to midnight.

"I'm On My Way To The Promised Land..."

It's been a hell of a week for critics of our Socialist leaders. First MEP Daniel Hannan gives British PM Gordon Brown a verbal beat-down that goes viral on the Internet and makes him an overnight sensation. Now we have news that the recent criticism of President Obama from Czech Prime Minister Mirek Toplanek, who called the economic stimulus a "road to hell," got his inspiration for those words from a recent AC/DC concert.

To YouTube, pop culture and those of you about to rock...I salute you!

Ashley Biden Scandal Hits The Net

Word is out of a video taken at a Delaware house party (never thought I'd put those words together) last month that features Ashley Biden, daughter of the Vice President, snorting cocaine. RadarOnline has the exclusive while the New York Post says they've seen a snippet of the video but refused to purchase it. They basically say they can't tell if it's her on the tape or not.

Doesn't do much for me. I'm pro-drug legalisation, so it's hard for me to be outraged. However, the story is breaking hard...

CNN Finally Gets Ratings It Deserves

Down to Number 3 behind Fox and PMSNBC. Fox, by the way, has better numbers in prime time than MS and CNN combined.

I haven't watched a single minute of CNN since this revelation in 2003:

In a shocking New York Times opinion piece, CNN's chief news executive Eason Jordan has admitted that for the past decade the network has systematically covered up stories of Iraqi atrocities. Reports of murder, torture, and planned assassinations were suppressed in order to maintain CNN's Baghdad bureau.

Low ratings are a pittance compared to what they deserve, but it's a start.

ShamWow! Pitchman Busted Over Fist Fight With Hooker

MARCH 27--Meet Vince Shlomi. He's probably better known to you as the ShamWow Guy, the ubiquitous television pitchman who has been phenomenally successful peddling absorbent towels and food choppers. Shlomi, 44, was arrested last month on a felony battery charge following a violent confrontation with a prostitute in his South Beach hotel room. According to an arrest affidavit, Shlomi met Sasha Harris, 26, at a Miami Beach nightclub on February 7 and subsequently retired with her to his $750 room at the lavish Setai hotel. Shlomi told cops he paid Harris about $1000 in cash after she "propositioned him for straight sex." Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue.

Ironically, police were stunned to find the hotel room's carpet completely dry and stain free.

Quote Of The Year

"It's common sense that when you are in debt you spend less. Anyone but a politician can see that."

Learn To Love The Hate

Paul Kengor over at the American Thinker looks at the roots of the hatred waiting outside the doors of AIG employees.

"We must teach our children to hate," Vladimir Lenin instructed his education commissars. The Bolshevik godfather declared that hatred was not only "the basis of communism" but "the basis of every socialist and Communist movement."

Class envy has been a defining staple of the left for centuries, from the frenzied mobs leaping around the French guillotines to the Soviets to, well, the new masses circling AIG executives today. The difference is merely the degree of response -- a question of socially acceptable force or violence.

Historically, this behavior is both foreign and antithetical to the American experience. Unfortunately, modern Americans don't understand their founding and the nation's core principles -- our educational system doesn't teach those things. Thus, they are now voting, and behaving, in kind. And we are now witnessing our own homegrown socialist movement in action, inspired by hate.

California Continues Down Road To Tyranny (But In A White Car)

In the latest idiocy to come from the formerly Golden State, there is a move to ban black cars from California roads using the logic that the color black leads to the absorption of heat, making the car hotter and thus running less efficiently.

You have to wonder when California will reach the breaking point and utterly collapse under the weight of its own stupidity.

What The Hell?!! British Education Being Wrecked By A 'Sir Jim Rose'

Reading this story left me gobsmacked!

Primary schools will be told to tear up traditional lessons in favour of teaching about social causes and social networking sites in the biggest education shake-up for 20 years, it emerged today.

They will no longer have to teach the Romans, Vikings, Tudors, Victorians or the Second World War but must help pupils master websites such as Twitter and Wikipedia, as well as blogging and podcasting.

Compulsory sex education will start from five and children as young as nine will be taught to make 'informed decisions' about taking drugs and drinking alcohol.

As swathes of prescribed knowledge in science, history and geography are stripped back, schools will be encouraged to put a big emphasis on internet skills, environmental education, healthy eating and well-being.

The blueprint for a new primary curriculum was drawn up by former Ofsted chief Sir Jim Rose following a request from Children's Secretary Ed Balls.

Hopefully you are all aware that this is not your's truly, the Libertarian Popinjay. Not only is what this "Sir" Jim Rose is doing a crime, he working for a guy named Ed Balls. I don't think I'd be able to get through the work day if I had to be under Balls.
ANYWHO, this is pretty much the end of Western Civilization. Au Revoir, it's been real.

AIG Executive Resigns

The big story on the blogs today is the resignation letter of an AIG executive, one of those targeted by the White House for taking a bonus. It's interesting in a John Galt way, but won't mean much ultimately, unless we have more guys like this Go Galt.

Prime Minister Brown Gets Served

G-d help me, I love British politicians. These guys know how to give a speech and how to gut an opponent with words better than one could ever accomplish with a sword. Case in point, a speech at a European Parliament from MEP Daniel Hannan, where he just rips Prime Minister Gordon Brown to shreds in a speech that could easily apply to our own Dear Leader, Barack Obama. If only we had a member of Congress willing to follow Hannan's lead. Watch and pay attention:

Mark Levin's Huge Hit

Looks like Mark Levin is on to something with his new book "Liberty and Tyranny." Today was the first day it was in the bookstores. I went to the midtown Barnes & Noble in Las Vegas at about 1pm today and they were all out. The clerk said it just flew off the shelf.

Did you hear that? A chill just went up the collective spine of the New York Times Book Review staff.

Senator Proposes Government Rescue Of Newspapers

Looks like all those years of bending over backwards for the Democrat Party could finally pay off for the New York Times, et al.

"This may not be the optimal choice for some major newspapers or corporate media chains but it should be an option for many newspapers that are struggling to stay afloat," said Senator Benjamin Cardin.

A Cardin spokesman said the bill had yet to attract any co-sponsors, but had sparked plenty of interest within the media, which has seen plunging revenues and many journalist layoffs.

Cardin's Newspaper Revitalization Act would allow newspapers to operate as nonprofits for educational purposes under the U.S. tax code, giving them a similar status to public broadcasting companies.

Under this arrangement, newspapers would still be free to report on all issues, including political campaigns. But they would be prohibited from making political endorsements.

Punch-Drunk Love

Hell of a week for The Messiah. First the Special Olympics gaffe on Leno, a place he shouldn't have been to begin with, and now on the usually in the tank "60 Minutes," Obama makes light of the bad economy with several chuckles leading Steve Kroft to ask him if he's "punch-drunk."

Bizarre times we live in.

Did Socialized Medicine Contribute To Natasha Richardson's Death?

It may seem like a crass question to ask so soon after her death, but it's a question that needs to be addressed if our current government is going to lurch toward such a system. David Hinz over at The Minority Report reveals that the location of Richardson's accident in Canada had no access to any kind of life-flight medical chopper or a nearby trauma ward in the area. A big part of any medical emergency is time...getting treatment as soon as possible. As Hinz points out, while we have many problems with out medical system in America, mostly involving payments, one problem we don't have (no matter what you may hear) is quick access to medical facilities. Obama Makes Bad Joke, Teleprompter Unavailable For Comment

Kim Priestap nails it:

I, too, could make a joke and tell the president to skip the comedy routine and stick to his day job, but he sucks even more at that.

Confirmed: Gordon Brown's DVD's Are Region 1

It doesn't get any better. Great headline from Tim Walker in the London Telegraph:

Gordon Brown is frustrated by 'Psycho' in No 10
As an American, I can sympathise.

A Downing Street spokesman said he was "confident" that any gift Obama gave Brown would have been "well thought through," but referred me to the White House for assistance on the "technical aspects".

A White House spokesman sniggered when I put the story to him and he was still looking into the matter when my deadline came last night.

By the way, when Obama's unlikely gift was disclosed, a reader emailed me to ask if Clueless was among the films. Funnily enough, it was not.

Brown, on the other hand, presented a rather more thoughtful gift to the American President in the form of a penholder carved from the timbers of an anti-slavery ship. The sister ship, in fact, of the one that was broken up and turned into the desk in the Oval Office.
Perhaps Jesus Christ Superstar will be in the next batch.

What kind of sweet hell is this?!

Putin In Disguise

Some good stuff on Drudge this morning including a story about a photo that may contain former KGB spy Vladimir Putin undercover following Ronald Reagan. The photographer, Pete Souza worked for Reagan and now works for President Obama. He says in looking back at this photo he thinks he sees Putin in disguise as a tourists.

Funny thing though, while the story is interesting, what struck me about this photo is Reagan. Forgive me for gushing, but at this point in time when the competence of our country's leadership is in question from all sides, when you look at Reagan you can't help but go, 'wow, now there was a leader of men.'

Call For Obama's Teleprompter To Resign

Missouri Police Target Tea Party-Goers

Timothy Birdnow over at the American Thinker has the goods. Apparently, Ron Paul stickers, pro-gun signs, anti-immigration rhetoric and the like are all considered the signs of "would-be terrorists."

Now before we go off the deep end here...certainly most police forces are trained and schooled in the area of right-wing militias which enjoyed their media-peak in the early to mid-90's (thank you Janet Reno). However, we have to hope that they know the difference between someone carrying a "Don't Tread On Me" flag at a Tea Party to protest our government's current economic policies to someone who is actually advocating the overthrow of the government. I think Ron Paul is a nutjob, but he's hardly comparable to the Turner Diaries.

Birdnow makes the case that there is reason for suspicion in Missouri due to the fact that two St. Louis prosecutors were ready to prosecute anyone that protested against Barack Obama during the presidential campaign, known as the Obama "Truth Squads." This story may be much ado about nothing, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on.

If only the Clinton administration had paid as much attention to Islamic extremism as it did to right-wing militias we might be living in a very different world today. (Hat tip: Gateway Pundit)

David Shuster Gets Defensive Over J-List

Erick Erickson over at RedState has once again become David Shuster's Waterloo.

Shed No Tears For Newspapers

There's an old creed (I think, if not it should be) that you can't solve a problem unless you properly identify the root of the problem, or put more simply, you have to lay blame on the right person or circumstance. In this financial crisis, we are handicapping ourselves because so many refuse to lay at least half of the blame where it belongs: the government. You can read countless stories in the New York Times or watch MSNBC and ne'er a word is said about the involvement of Barney Frank or Chris Dodd, and if it is, it's fleeting. It's all on Wall Street. Indeed, corporate fat cats are partially to blame, but again, that's half of the story.

It's the same with the decline of the newspapers. No one in the industry wants to point the finger at the real reason for the decline: that the supposed "public watchdogs" have become lapdogs to a particular agenda and turned their back on the public they claim to serve and the free speech they claim to revere. Richard Davis puts it in perspective in his latest piece in the American Thinker:

Not long ago journalists were champions of free speech. Now they routinely manipulate, ignore or suppress information. They've become the gatekeepers of multiculturalism and political correctness. The old saw that you can't believe everything you read in the newspaper has never been truer.

The JournoList Cabal

From our, "no duh!" file, turns out liberal journalists (are there any other kind?) and liberal bloggers have an online meeting place to hatch their plans, but it's all very innocent, they say:

For the past two years, several hundred left-leaning bloggers, political reporters, magazine writers, policy wonks and academics have talked stories and compared notes in an off-the-record online meeting space called JournoList.
Proof of a vast liberal media conspiracy?
Not at all, says Ezra Klein, the 24-year-old American Prospect blogging wunderkind who formed JournoList in February 2007. “Basically,” he says, “it’s just a list where journalists and policy wonks can discuss issues freely.”

Whatever. It's not like you don't expect this from any group of like-minded people. G-d knows bloggers on both sides of the political spectrum congregate together. What's so annoying is the continued pretense that everything is unbiased and open-minded. They know that's not true, and they know that we know it's not true, and they know that we know that they know and on and on and on. It's all a game.

Ron Silver Dies

Terrible news as actor/political activist Ron Silver has passed away after a two year battle with cancer.

One of his best friends and a fellow traveler, Roger L. Simon, has these parting thoughts:

I am writing this in a hurry because of the recent announcement of his death at the age of 62 – and I will undoubtedly write more about Ron – but I would like to share one other moment in recent years.

Somewhere around a year ago we were having breakfast in New York. He wasn’t looking good, hair thin from chemo, sallow complexion, etc. His energy, however, as always, was spectacularly high and he was filled with plans for his new Sirius radio show. But something was wrong. It wasn’t just the cancer, but it was related to the cancer. Ron was, above all things, an actor, a fantastic actor. And the cancer made him unable to do that work. He told me he had just been offered the lead in Coriolanus at the Long Wharf, but didn’t think he could do it. He would be too tired with his illness to play a Shakespeare lead. His artistic work was all over for him. It was the one time in all the recent years I saw him on the edge of tears.

I’m starting to cry myself as I type this, so I’m going to shut up. What a great man.

It Begins: Russia Tests Obama

Missile Crisis II?

“There are four or five airfields in Cuba with 4,000-meter-long runways, which absolutely suit us,” Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev told Interfax.

Zhikharev, who is the chief of staff of the Russian Air Force’s long-range aviation, said, “If the two chiefs of state display such a political will, we are ready to fly there.”

Zhikharev also told Interfax that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered a military airfield on La Orchila island as a temporary base for Russian strategic bombers.

“If a relevant political decision is made, this is possible,” he said, according to Interfax. Zhikharev said he visited La Orchila in 2008 and can confirm that with minor reconstruction, the airfield owned by a local naval base can accept fully-loaded Russian strategic bombers.

Maxine Waters Foray Into Banking Offers Teaching Moment

One of the smartest bloggers out there is Chicago Boyz blogger Shannon Love. She has the uncanny ability to reveal the big picture in any story you can throw at her.

Case in point: news today of a bank collapse with ties to Maxine "Burn Baby Burn!" Waters:

For leftists, OneUnited should represent the perfect bank. It’s small. It’s minority owned. The "socially responsible” Maxine Water’s invested in the bank and sat on its board. There’s no evidence it made predatory loans.

Yet, it failed.

It failed not due to any short-sighted greedy decisions that the bank’s management made but rather because the bank’s management, including board members like Waters, trusted that the mortgage-backed securities issued by the government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac were worth the paper they were written on.

OneUnited is a microcosm of the entire financial collapse. Over the past 40 years the GSEs have piled up a vast store of toxic assets created by the attempt to get something for nothing by fooling the market about the risk of residential mortgages. Ratings firms gave the GSEs top ratings because of their implied government guarantee and oversight. Banks like OneUnited bought into the political myth and now they and everyone else are paying for it.

Moral Equivalence In Full Force

Roger L. Simon reports on a speech New York Times columnist Roger Cohen gave to a group of Iranian Jews in Los Angeles last night. Cohen, not surprisingly, sees little wrong with the Mullah regime in Iran and tries to make the case that Jews who live there don't have it that bad. He goes over the top when he discusses executions.

I was puzzled by Cohen’s strange reaction to Iran until an audience member asked a question about the notorious public hangings in that country. Astonishingly, Cohen muttered something under his breath about us killing people in Texas. Now as someone who opposes capital punishment I can say this: Anyone who sees even remote moral equivalence between a culture that executes convicted murderers after appeal and one that hangs homosexuals for their sexual preference and stones women to death for adultery has, to be kind, a rather bizarre world view. This is cultural relativism run amuck.

This leads to the age old question of how men of the Left like Cohen really think. Does he really believe that Iran's and America's forms of execution are similar or is it just flummery? Is this a Hofferian form of being a "true believer" or is Cohen merely an opportunists playing to the Jon Stewart culture?

Stewart v. Cramer Sure To Rule News Cycle, Annoy Popinjay

Don't expect too much from me tomorrow as I'll be hiding out from the brew-ha-ha over today's showdown between CNBC madman Jim Cramer and dashboard saint of braindead thirty-somethings everywhere, Jon Stewart, on The Daily Show.

Why CNBC made Cramer appear on the show is beyond me, unless they truly believe that all publicity is good publicity. Stewart basically did his usual Olbermann-light shtick to the delight of his drones as he attacked CEO's of all shapes and sizes with ne'er a mention of the governments involvement in our financial mess. But who cares? As long as the minions are happy with easy answers and heavy doses of cool. Not that Cramer is any prize himself. If only they could have destroyed each other like Godzilla and King Kong falling over a cliff in Japan.

We are living in a sitcom and there's nothing funny about.

Being Progressive In The World Of "O"

James Lewis has an excellent piece today in the American Thinker about the socialist question. You'll learn more history in this one column than you could learn in a semester of college.

Socialism is internationalist, and that means a genuine dual loyalty for a president of the United States. Marxists are convinced there is an inevitable contradiction between love of country and love of humanity. That's why it's called the Socialist International, and why the anthem is the Internationale. They haven't made a secret of it. Internationalist fervor controls their actions, including very successful efforts to whip up black feelings against whites, women against men, and everybody against capitalism, no matter how many billions of people it has raised out of poverty. The whole point about the global warming scam is to empower the internationalist Ruling Class.

That Promise About Signing Statements

Blogged yesterday on Obama's broken promise not to use presidential signing statements like the evil George W. Bush. Conservative Punk found the video proof of this broken promise:

Gun Control And The Mexican Border

Big news today that President Obama is considering sending National Guard troops to quell violence along the Mexican border as drug runners get bolder. El Paso, Texas is no longer an ideal setting for a Steve McQueen movie. Along with neighboring Juarez, it's becoming a murder capital.

Glenn Reynolds read over this article and sees a crack in the door leading to more gun-control:

"We expect to have a comprehensive approach to dealing with these issues of border security that will involve supporting Calderon and his efforts in a partnership, also making sure we are dealing with the flow of drug money and guns south, because it's really a two-way situation there," said Obama.

"The drugs are coming north, we're sending funds and guns south," he said. "As a consequence, these cartels have gained extraordinary power. Our expectation is to have a comprehensive policy in place in the next few months."

Remember: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

Obamanfreude - 1. taking pleasure from the discomfort of Obama supporters as they come to realize that The Chosen One™ is just another Chicago politician. 2. taking pleasure from the misfortunes of an Obama supporter as he or she is adversely affected by the policies of their Dear Leader.

Obama did an amusing hat-trick today: he signed a budget bill in private; he said earmarks can be a good thing; and echoing his predecessor, he used a presidential signing statement, which is a sort of line-item veto without actually going down that road. It merely means he won't enforce the parts of the bill he doesn't like.

Paglia Slams Obama's Flacks, Fixers and Goons

As usual...she's right on target:

Heads should be rolling at the White House for the embarrassing series of flubs that have overshadowed President Obama's first seven weeks in office and given the scattered, demoralized Republicans a huge boost toward regrouping and resurrection. (Michelle, please use those fabulous toned arms to butt some heads!)
The orchestrated attack on radio host Rush Limbaugh, which has made the White House look like an oafish bunch of drunken frat boys. I returned from carnival in Brazil (more on that shortly) to find the Limbaugh affair in full flower. Has the administration gone mad? This entire fracas was set off by the president himself, who lowered his office by targeting a private citizen by name. Limbaugh had every right to counterattack, which he did with gusto. Why have so many Democrats abandoned the hallowed principle of free speech? Limbaugh, like our own liberal culture hero Lenny Bruce, is a professional commentator who can be as rude and crude as he wants.

Emphasis mine, and the answer to that question is that they never believed in it to begin with. In truth, very few people do. Sure, they believe in it for themselves, but that's usually where it ends. Free speech absolutists like myself are like dogs that can read...very, very rare.

Obama's Problem With Brits

Remember what are rapidly become some of the best years of our lives, i.e. the George W. Bush years? Remember when President Bush, never the best speaker, would occasionally mispronounce a foreign leader's name, or use the word "awesome" when talking to Pope Benedict XVI or when he, horror of horrors, (brace yourself) winked at Queen Elizabeth II? Remember how the political left and the MSM (sorry for the repetition) would just wring their hands at what an embarrassment it was for the United State with the international community?

Now return to year one of post-capitalist America, where President Barack Obama just got through treating the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, our strongest ally, like he was the ambassador from Liechtenstein. The fact that PM Brown got a parting gift of a bunch of DVD's (I wonder if they're Region 1 or Region 2?) can hardly be of any solace. So, yes, I'm going to waste my time, channel Bob Dole and ask the laughable and rhetorical question 'Where's the outrage?' Hell, I have a follow up: 'And if Bush treated Brown this way?'

I make myself laugh. Anywho, Baldilocks has a theory for Obama's hatred of the British people.

Drudge Siren: Obama Ready To Drop Missile Shield For Russian Help With Iran

MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti) - Washington has told Moscow that Russian help in resolving Iran's nuclear program would make its missile shield plans for Europe unnecessary, a Russian daily said on Monday, citing White House sources.

U.S. President Barack Obama made the proposal on Iran in a letter to his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, Kommersant said, referring to unidentified U.S. officials.

Calgon, take me away!

Musical Chairs In The Cuban Government

HAVANA - President Raul Castro abruptly removed some of Cuba's most powerful officials Monday, putting a personal stamp on the government in the biggest shakeup since he took over from his ailing brother Fidel Castro a year ago.

The changes replaced some key Fidel loyalists, including the longtime foreign minister and the secretary of the Council of State, with men closer to Raul. They also reduced the enormous powers of a vice president credited with saving Cuba's economy after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Saving Cuba's economy? I'd hate to see their version of not saving it.

But analysts saw no immediate indication that the changes are related to hopes for closer U.S.-Cuban ties now that both countries have new presidents.

The abrupt shakeup, which also consolidated some of Cuba's many ministries to create a "more compact and functional structure," was the first major reorganization under Raul Castro. It was announced at the end of the midday news, after the weather and sports.

Heh! Not much to see here really. Like anyone else, Raul is making sure he has "his guys" close at hand in case sh*t goes down.

Hilarious Quote Of The Day

Via the gang at Hillary Clinton's State Department concerning the nearly $1-Billion we're sending to Gaza:

"Hamas is not getting any of this money."
I believe Hillary is famous for using the term "the willing suspension of disbelief". Who knew it was a core philosophy?

Fakes News From The Right (Or Is It?)

The reason the conservative comedy show "The Half Hour News Hour" didn't make it was because it just wasn't very tight, the humor was forced and the pacing was off. Not so with the gang over at Newsbusters.org who put out YouTube clips of fake news that sharp and very funny.

I'm no pro-lifer, but the abortion joke in this clip is pretty damn good:
