Saints Play One For The Ages

But the lingering question after tonight's Monday Night Football game is whether the New England Patriot's did the unthinkable and gave up.

Honduras Chooses Democracy, Elects Lobo

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — Conservative Porfirio Lobo won the controversial first presidential election in Honduras since a June 28 coup with 55.9 percent of the vote, electoral officials said, after more than 60 percent of ballots were counted.

Zelaya and his puppet-master Hugo Chavez tried to get people to boycott the election. Didn't work.

Nice going Obama...you backed the wrong pony. Hopefully this Lobo has more sense than the Georgia Sheriff.

Golfing Messiah Faces Adversity

According to TMZ, the car accident involving Tiger Woods was actually the result of domestic violence in the home. Tiger Woods allegedly got the facial lacerations from his wife who confronted him about a possible affair...Tiger fled in his SUV as she made like Jack Nicholson and pursued the vehicle with his golf clubs. Drowsy from painkillers, he crashed into a hydrant.

I don't wish any ill on Tiger Woods. He's arguably the greatest golfer that ever lived. What interest me here is how the fawning media is going to handle the situation. Tiger was Obama before there was Obama. A super-star that could do no wrong in the eyes of sports media and all media. What now?

Climategate Continues With White House Ties

As we trudge through the mainstream-media blackout of Climategate we find there's even more to it than meets the eye.

First, the BBC had the emails for months and sat on them. This speaks for itself.

Second, turns out the psycho Science Czar John Holdren has a hand in the scandal (of course):

Obama Science Czar John Holdren is directly involved in CRU’s unfolding Climategate scandal. In fact, according to files released by a CEU hacker or whistleblower, Holdren is involved in what Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Canadian climatologist Dr. Tim Ball terms “a truculent and nasty manner that provides a brief demonstration of his lack of understanding, commitment on faith and willingness to ridicule and bully people”.

The only thing we can do here is to keep pounding away at the story. Tell your friends, spread the word...eventually the truth will surface within pop culture.

The Cloward-Piven Strategy Of Orchestrated Crisis

This is a post from James Simpson in the American Thinker back in late September, but it's making the rounds in the Blogosphere as of late. You should take the time to read every world. Here's a taste:

The Strategy was first elucidated in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation magazine by a pair of radical socialist Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. David Horowitz summarizes it as:

The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Cloward and Piven were inspired by radical organizer [and Hillary Clinton mentor] Saul Alinsky:

"Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one. (Courtesy Discover the Networks.org)

A Classic "What If George W. Bush Had Done This?" Story

Via Hot Air:

When the White House fired Inspector General Gerald Walpin, the administration claimed that it acted on a number of complaints by the Corporation for National and Community Service’s board. Documents uncovered by Republicans in the investigation into Walpin’s firing have shown this to be a lie. The White House fired Walpin at the behest of the board’s chair, a big donor to Barack Obama’s campaign, but only contacted the board after the firing — and at first only to tell them to publicly support it.

NFL Line Of The Day

From Drew at Ace of Spades:

"Get your picks in before Jay Cutler starts throwing his."

Indeed. The Bears are just minutes from kickoff. Weird day in the league. Oakland wins, Chiefs win. That's enough right there to knock you on your heels.

The Simple v. The Complex

The great Shannon Love over at Chicago Boyz hits it out of the park, as usual, with her analysis of Sarah Palin v. Barack Obama:

Over at Hit&Run, there is a thread about how simplistic and empty Sarah Palin is compared to Obama or previous conservatives. Leaving out the fact that both Reagan and Goldwater suffered the same contempt in their time that Palin does now, it does raise the issue of whether it is important that leftists do in general produce much more complex and “sophisticated” explanations of political ideas than do conservatives.

The major reason that non-leftists’ ideas look “simplistic” compared to leftists’ ideas is that non-leftists’ ideas are usually nothing but statements about the limits of human knowledge.

By contrast, leftist arguments are statements about the possession of knowledge by some elite group of human beings. The “complex” leftists arguments are detailed elaborations of what they think they know in each particular case.

By analogy, it is like to two doctors arguing over how to treat an illness. The non-leftist doctor says, “Nobody knows what causes this particular illness, so any particular serious treatment is likely to do more harm than good.” The leftist doctor, however, claims to have a predictive theory about the cause of the disease and a course of treatment. It is immediately obvious that the leftist doctor will have to produce a complex and detailed argument for why he thinks he understands the cause and treatment for the disease.

However, the leftist doctor is not automatically right just because his argument is “complex” as compared to the non-leftist doctor’s simple statement of the lack of human knowledge about the disease. Indeed, the vast majority of novel hypotheses are wrongm so in any particular case the “complex” argument is more likely to be wrong than the “simple” argument. A treatment based on a flawed hypothesis is more likely to injure the patient than help.

Or as Ronald Reagan put it:

Chutzpah, Thy Name Is Blanche

In a way, you have to admire Blanche Lincoln, Democrat Senator from Arkansas. She plays the Blue Dog card, talks about how government is too big, but when the cards are down, she votes to make it bigger anyway. She has to be feeling a little dissed as well. Mary Landrieu made out with a cool $300 mill...all Blanche seems to have gotten was a lousy t-shirt...if that.

But Christmas is coming...

Global Warming, R.I.P.

It's now official...Global Warming is the biggest hoax of our era. There can no longer be any doubt that it was a lie from the very beginning and no thinking person can believe it in any longer. Christopher C. Horner over at Big Government calls this the "blue dress" moment for Global Warming. I can't argue.

An "Ask And Tell" Policy

Doug Giles hits the nail on the head concerning the Ft. Hood massacre: (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin)

When the initial news reports started pouring out of Fort Hood about the mass murder (read terrorist attack) of some of America’s finest, I turned to my wife and daughter and without hesitation said, “I’ll bet you a hundred bucks it was a Muslim.” I was spot on. But shame on me for thinking such a thing, right? (Yeah, those of us who immediately thought that the murderer, given the circumstances, had to be a Muslim, we’re the bad guys.)

Yep, a Religion of Peace adherent, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, as you well know by now, opened fire as he screamed “Allahu Akbar!” on a room full of unarmed soldiers, killing 13 and wounding 30. Unarmed soldiers. Wow. What a wussy. What a “mighty warrior” for Allah, eh? Unarmed soldiers. I say it’s high time to begin carrying on base because, obviously, such d-bags cannot read that military bases are to be gun free zones.

Yet Another Classic Hitler 'Downfall' Parody

One of the great guilty pleasures on the Internet is the use of a movie clip to parody many aspect of pop culture. The clip in question is from the movie Der Untergang (or "Downfall"), a German film about Hitler in the bunker and shows a scene where he is being told the war is lost (though Harry Reid doesn't seem to be there). Many have used the clip of the movie but put in their own subtitles to parody everything from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to Brett Favre and the Swine Flu. The latest deals with the Democrat's election losses on Tuesday night and it doesn't disappoint. I hope to make my own someday soon.

The Death Of Cable News

While President Obama has his on-again off-again war with Fox News for employing the likes of Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, MSNBC continues to tow the party line for the Democrat Party led by the man that has done more to destroy cable news journalism than any other. After Tea Partiers held a rally with radio talk show host Mark Levin on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, Keith Olbermann had this to say:

"On an associated point with this, how do the organizers of this not realize, ‘You know what, we had better get somehow, even if we have to pay them to show up, some black faces, some brown faces, some Asian people or somebody in this crowd other than the crowd we were seeing?'" Olbermann said. "Every piece of videotape I looked at looks exactly the same. This is otherwise going to look like a pro-Apartheid rally in South Africa 35 or 40 years ago."

I have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and I'm currently working on my Master's degree in the same field...and day after day I wonder why. Perhaps I could also get a degree in sanskrit or perhaps I could devote my life to the study of mule tits...you know, something more useful than the long dead and buried profession of journalism.

Fred Thompson In '12?

Ace wonders why no one is asking this question. I'd love to see Fred as President but it's not going to happen. He ran in '08 with an incredibly half-hearted campaign. There were rumors beforehand that he was a tad lazy and didn't have the "fire in the belly" that it takes to seek high office and I think that proved out. Basically, Fred enjoys life too much to take a 24/7/365 job where half the country hates you.

Bottom line: you gotta want it, and I don't think Fred does.

Election Night Lessons

Well, what did we learn tonight?

Big win for the GOP in Virginia, but it was expected. HUGE win in New Jersey, somewhat unexpected. Together, they make for a big night for the Republicans and a bad night for the Dems.

Meanwhile, you have NY23. Probably won't hear the final results tonight and right now it doesn't look like Conservative Doug Hoffman will pull it off, but that's not his fault. The GOP elitists absolutely blew it. Gingrich and a group of faceless party hacks have decided that despite all the evidence to the contrary, the road to victory is to turn the GOP into Democrat Party-light. Hello 1960! Dede Scozzafava was not even a RINO, she was a Democrat through and through. Something needs to change in the GOP ivory tower or they could very well blow 2010.

But in the meantime, Hazzah!

Republicans Make Gains Leading Into 2010

Here's what you need to know about the off-year elections going on tonight:

The Virginia governor's race is already over. The Republican McDonnell ran away with it. The only question left is by how much. Big win for GOP as Virginia is a key swing state that helped Obama to victory last year. The bigger the margin, the worse for Obama.

New Jersey is a nail-biter, but my money is on Corzine to win. Reasons? 1) A lot of conservatives have left the state; 2) New Jersey is notorious for embracing the worst politicians they can (see Jim McGreevey); and 3) Fraud, fraud and more fraud. But you never know.

New York 23: Whether Hoffman wins or loses, the point has been made by the conservatives, a loss won't stop the momentum leading into 2010 nor will it mean a reprieve for the party establishment from the base.

Stay tuned.

UPDATE: WHOA! AP calls New Jersey for Christie...the Republican.

The Lie That Was Roots

Jack Cashill at the American Thinker blows my mind with the story of how Arthur Haley's Roots is almost complicated fabricated with half of it plagiarized from a fictional novel and the other half completely made up. Did you know this? I never knew this...and it makes me wonder what other lies I was taught growing up.

In 1993, a year after Haley's death, writer Philip Nobile did his best to expose what he calls "one of the great literary hoaxes of modern times." In February of that year, he published "Uncovering Roots" in the influential alternative publication, The Village Voice. The article brought to a larger public the story of the Courlander suit and the Mills's genealogy work.  Nobile also revealed that Haley's editor at Playboy magazine, the very white and Jewish Murray Fisher, did much of the book's writing.

Haley's unsuspecting archivists had given Nobile access to the various letters, diaries, drafts, notes, and audiotapes that Haley had kept. They were a veritable gold mine, theretofore unexplored. In working his way trough them, Nobile came to understand the depths of Haley's "elegant and complex make-it-up-as-you-go-along scam."

Apparently, when Haley first conceived a family research project in 1964, he had no plans to find an African ancestor. That thought did not occur to him until much later when he met an exchange student from the Gambia. Together, they shared key phrases like "Kamby Bolongo" that Haley could pretend to trace.

The student's African contacts arranged for Haley to meet a "griot," who had been coached in advance to say what Haley wanted to hear. "It was sort of like Piltdown Man," says Nobile. "Haley would plant the evidence and then find it."

Report: Scozzafava Endorsing Democrat

Now that she's dropped out, the "moderate" Republican Scozzafava running for the Congressional seat in NY23 is quietly telling supporters to vote for the Democrat Owens and not the Conservative Hoffman according to a report. If true, this proves the point of the conservatives regardless if win or lose. The GOP put up a Democrat in Republican clothing for a special election and yet they wonder why there was a backlash from the base?

No one really disagrees that the party needs to be diverse, but that's not what the moderates in the party are advocating. They want the conservatives banned from the party so they don't have to go to their posh cocktail parties and get teased that within their party are hicks from Alabama.

UPDATE: And there you have it.
